We have a crash which has been confirmed by at least two Ubuntu users
with AMD64 processors, using Ubuntu's xemacs21-mule 21.4.21-1ubuntu3.1
(for Hardy). See
http://tracker.xemacs.org/XEmacs/its/issue430 for
details.
I'm look for somebody with a fairly recent Ubuntu/AMD64 system who can
help with debugging this. I'd be happy to give advice via IRC or
similar, but what needs to be done at this point is fairly
straightforward:
(1) verify the bug using the recipes in the tracker on a vanilla
Ubuntu installation;
(2) check to see if the bug occurs for xemacs -vanilla and (for the
Cyrillic case) xemacs -no-autoloads;
(3) rebuild XEmacs 21.4 with the Ubuntu patches but using the normal
XEmacs build process instead of debian/rules, and check if the bug
occurs; and
(4) rebuild with Ubuntu patches but with -g -Os (instead of -Owhatever),
and check.
Of course all of the runtime tests should be done under the debugger
to compare backtraces of the crashes.
Steve
