My concern is _merge to the mainline_ when Andrew just announced on c.e.x that he's going to be gone for some weeks. _If_ Andrew can promise to be around at critical times _we_ define, or _if_ we can attract developers who can back him up, I'd say adding to the mainline is OK. If not, we're just assuming an additional maintenance burden without really doing anything beyond what Andrew has already done for users. I'm very happy to have Andrew's port; much as I like Pitts's port, it hasn't gone anywhere and it won't. With Andrew's permission (we don't want to fork his code while he is inactive!), we could also check it in on a branch.
