It will make the infloop and crash go away; it will probably leave you
with a unstable XEmacs. Ben sez:
it was never safe; i just added the printf recently to flush out

the gc-in-window-procedure fix is probably a serious bug too, but
it less obviously leads to crashes. it probably leads to some
subtle weird problems, but you can pass on it if you want.
So I did pass (ie, postpone), without looking closely at that point.
Um, Ben, as I understand it asserts get defined away to "DO_NOTHING;"
in a --debug=no XEmacs. Is assert the right thing to do here?
I have a patch for the IPv6 stupidity in hand, and a limited amount of
time to fix any showstoppers before I leave on vacation. So I'm going
to roll out 21.4.4 within a few hours.
