Today I have the joy to announce following new features of the XEmacs
Website and its mirrors:
-------------------------------
XEmacs Website Full-Text Search
-------------------------------
Peter Brown has chosen and installed the Namazu[1] search engine for the
XEmacs Websites.
It's prominently featured at the top of the XEmacs Website sidebar.
You can directly reach it under
http://www.xemacs.org/cgi-bin/namazu.cgi
as well.
I hope you'll all agree this fills a major gap in the utility of
http://www.xemacs.org/
The archives of our mailing lists at
http://www.xemacs.org/Lists/index.html
remain searchable as before via Wilma/Glimpse.
-------------------
XEmacs HTML Manuals
-------------------
These are available via the documentation page at
http://www.xemacs.org/Documentation/index.html
The motivation for this service is to lower the entry level for new
users by making documentation readily available via web browser.
Furthermore people providing help on XEmacs related mailing lists and
news groups have a canonical location now to refer others to
documentation.
Currently all texinfo manuals for XEmacs 21.5 and XEmacs packages are
available in HTML format under
http://www.xemacs.org/Documentation/21.5/html/
and
http://www.xemacs.org/Documentation/packages/html/
respectively.
According to our development model[2]
http://www.xemacs.org/Documentation/beta/html/
points to XEmacs 21.5 docs at the moment.
Stable (currently 21.1.14) and Gamma (currently 21.4.6) manuals may be
put up in the future depending on public demand.
Feedback on these new features is highly welcome.
Adrian, for The XEmacs Development Team
