If that doesn't help, I don't see any reason why the code you posted as being taken from Emacs wouldn't work in XEmacs (but it does something quite different from the above). Have you tried it? If it doesn't work, please tell us what did you expect to happen, what did happen, and any messages (informative, warning, or error) that occurred when you did it.
