This is a non-standard installation.
Is there a reason why setting --prefix=/opt/xemacs and installing into
/opt/xemacs/bin, /opt/xemacs/lib/xemacs, and
/opt/xemacs/lib/xemacs-21.1.14 is unacceptable? (Ie, what you have
installed as /opt/xemacs-21.1.14/lisp/auto-autoloads would be
/opt/xemacs/lib/xemacs-21.1.14/lisp/auto-autoloads.) Those are the
locations that the XEmacs binary expects for the rest of XEmacs.
If you really need that style, the various components of an XEmacs
installation can be set in pretty great detail. See configure --usage
and INSTALL.
