Probably that's inertia, or some traumatic experience after its
early incarnations...
Trust me, I can understand that sentiment. If I didn't consider
myself a "developer", I would definitely still be using a non-Mule
XEmacs.
Why? Because it works. Because it's faster. Because I'd be sure
that it won't screw up binary data in a file or buffer.
I also had, and still have, fairly convoluted code that made XEmacs do
what I wanted with the Croatian characters. But I was always aware
that the whole thing was a huge hack. Had I ever desired to overcome
the "hack" stage, I would have looked into Mule anyway.
