This seems to be a bug in Xaw3d--but, many of our users, use Xaw3d and
haven't reported this bug, so it could be something else system-specific on
your machine. If you have the source available, could you try recompiling
with the native Xaw toolkit and reproducing the problem?

We may need a more sophisticated configure test for XFillRectangle or
just disallow the XFillRectangle call with Xaw3d.
