You don't need to set up subprojects.
I only have projects for xemacsweb, packages, xemacs-21.5, xemacs-21.4, etc.
You just list files relative to the chosen project.
If you have a single file (possibly in a subdir of project) to commit,
visit it and just use M-x patcher-mail-subproject and hit RET on the list
of files. It will take the buffer's file by default.
