Okay, that fixed it for me, too. So it looks like a different set of
elcs is needed for tm in the non-MULE and MULE SUMOs. Also,
latex-math-symbol.el probably doesn't belong in the non-MULE SUMO (or,
at least, you can't byte-compile it without MULE).
