Well, from upstream's
<
http://ess.r-project.org/Manual/ess.html#Installation>:
"Due to XEmacs lacking some features that ESS requires, ESS support of
XEmacs ended with ESS 12.04-4."
Which is already six years behind -current:
<
https://github.com/emacs-ess/ESS/releases?after=v12.04>, and still
eight years ahead of the XEmacs ess. Funny that the website still names
XEmacs support <
https://ess.r-project.org/index.php?Section=home>.
It wasn’t an intentional omission on my part; I just did make bindist in the
package tree, and uploaded those packages that were built.
Looking at the old packages (which I have elsewhere on the server) it wasn’t
included previously either. I will look into it further.
