Hey, /real/ programmers do it by pushing (0/1) buttons and (store) keys.
Guys, I've been there and done that. In the dinosaur department, I'm up
with most any of you.
That's also why 'monkeypatching' doesn't make my tummy feel good. Much
of my working career was mis-spent as a civilian employee of the Navy,
doing release-control for programs that go to sea: there were no
"user-friendly" user interfaces there! And some inspectors would be
really fussy about the binary content of the program matching the
audited compilation -- one loose nuclear cruise missile can just spoil
the Captain's whole day.
