"Motif" rhymes with "grief", and that's no accident. We cannot debug crashes without a backtrace with debug symbols. I'm sure Red Hat strips the binary, so you should build XEmacs (current is 21.4.14) yourself before following up. Use the default flags; they have optimization and debugging symbols. Of course, you could always build with the Athena libraries (Xaw3d is preferred), and have an excellent chance of avoiding further pain.
