Yes.

That's up to you. Switching to Mule may cause you some annoyance,
because things that used to "just work" (mainly 8-bit encodings other
than ISO 8859/1) will now require configuration.
On the other hand, although apparently rare, what you are seeing is
a crash. Induced by an intentional assertion, but nonetheless an
involuntary exit: do not pass Go, do not collect $200, do not save
buffers or update persistent data. You may or may not get a decent
autosave of open files (we do try to autosave during a crash, but
since XEmacs is by definition in a state it cannot properly handle
during a crash, we can't be sure that it will work).
Since you're already using the beta, maybe it's worth the risk to you
to stay with the environment you're used to, and possibly help debug
the crash. But the latter is not so important, as I'm pretty sure the
developers have reproduced it.
