Not recently, and no.
GNU just has different internal APIs. It's just as likely that they
changed the API when they incorporated Mule in 20.1 -- they did that
in many, many places -- as that our version was changed when we did --
but as far as I can tell from ChangeLogs that would have happened in
1995.
We try to keep APIs in synch with GNU, but we get no help from GNU,
and they normally refuse requests from XEmacs developers to join their
mailing lists. The Mule documentation is very incomplete. So we
don't find out about these differences until someone reports them.
I'll take a look at synching for 21.5, but this is unlikely to change
in the 21.4 series.
