Of course as I did with auctex-11.82-pkg.tar.gz
auctex-11.82-pkg.tar.gz, if generated in that manner, will likely
contain one file too many, namely info/dir. This has been fixed since
then in the Makefile and has to be removed manually from the package
for 11.82 if you are generating it yourself. Sorry for that.
Apart from that, the stuff should be quite the same as the finished
package.
