Hello,
For what it's worth, here are some data points about my (generally quite
positive) experience with XEmacs on OS X. I'm using the latest source
from CVS as of about half an hour ago.
1. It compiles just fine. I have logs (stdout and stderr separated) of
the configure and make process:
http://www.beseech.org/xemacs/
The only things of interest are a few mild compiler warnings ("function
declaration isn't a prototype", et c.). How seriously do you all take
those? Some projects go on a mission to get completely clean compiler
output, and other projects don't consider it a high priority.
2. Whenever I start xemacs, I get this on stderr:
_XF86BigfontQueryFont: could not attach shm segment
It doesn't appear to hurt anything; xemacs works fine from what I can
tell. Unless it's related to this:
3. When I do a text copy in an OS X app like Terminal and then try to
paste into XEmacs with C-y, the minibuffer says:
Selection conversion error: no selection, CLIPBOARD
When I do a text copy in an X app like rxvt and then try to paste into
XEmacs with C-y, the last thing I copied in XEmacs is pasted instead of
what I copied in the rxvt.
Finally, I DO get the expected results when I paste into XEmacs using
the mouse instead of C-y.
Thanks,
