Dear Bug Team!
On my Mandrake 9.0 system, dired occassionally includes the date as
part of the file name in creating the extents. (It's easy to see when
this happens by sliding the mouse down the filenames and watching the
highlighting.) This means none of the file operations (such as
visiting or deleting) work because they try to operate on a file with
a name like "Apr 23 2002 dired-mob.elc" rather than "dired-mob.elc".
I tracked this down to the search for dired-re-month-and-time, which
is set to
