No, that's not it. 1.75 is the latest, and that's what I've got.
I cannot see what's going on until I get a working version of xemacs 21.5.
21.5.28 seems broken for me.
I suspect that the problem is that the latest version of XEmacs is too
aggressively enforcing window-min-height.
When there is a danger that windows might get redrawn, ediff sets
window-min-height to 1.
I suspect a fix could be to do the same when it writes to a file, but
I cannot test this.
Better yet, XEmacs should be more cautious with deleting windows.
I see that FSF's emacs preserves windows in your case even though it also
enforces window-min-height.
