You did mention it. :-) That's why I suggested changes that went into
both 21.5 and .4, and recent ones because, to the best of my knowledge,
SXEmacs has never had this problem.
I agree. I think that probably this is related to changes made by
Aidan (or maybe me, I certainly agreed with the change, so don't blame
Aidan:-) that made Mule decoding mark the buffer as edited. This may
have a larger scope than we intended due to the complexity of the file
I/O code.
Sorry for lack of a more specific reference but I'm traveling with a
new computer and haven't even installed XEmacs sources yet.
