-vanilla? How about xemacs -no-packages?
I can't find a reference to DOC-mule in the source tree. Of course it
could be a computed value, but I never heard of it before, either,
so ....
Ok, scratch this one. I have a local build of apel 10.6 in my
load-path, because my mailer (Wanderlust) requires it, and it seems
that it's responsible for this. It also seems that the same version of
apel is in the new sumo, so I'll just use that. Perhaps the problem is
really that my version was byte-compiled with 21.4. (I've had all
kinds of problems with libs that were byte-compiled under 21.4 not
working correctly with 21.5. Ugh.)
