Possible, sure. Should we encourage this, or should we fix the issues that
prompt the need for it?
Well, certainly the latter if at all possible.
It may make sense, though, to keep the previous version of packages
around for a few months, so that users and packagers can quickly work
around issues that managed to dodge testing.
