This sounds somewhat familiar (although I couldn't find the specific
fix listed in a release announcement). I think the bug may well have
been fixed since 21.4.13 was released nearly 4 years ago. I would
recommend building from the most recent sources - 21.4.20 was released
last December.

Fortunately, this doesn't seem to be true. A core file is worthless
without your exact build and a very similar machine. A backtrace, on
the other hand, could be useful.
In any case, I think upgrading to the latest sources has a substantial
chance of resolving this issue. HTH, YMMV, etc.
