Moreover it runs xmkmf to figure out where X. We have (or used to
have) our own private X in /usr/local/X11 and it picked it up
perfectly.
So if your xmkmf/imake install it is not broken all is well. The problem is
when to detect broken xmkmf/imake installs and then try to do the
right thing.
