I've thought of doing that, but have resisted for the very
reasons you
cited as becoming problematical.
I've *never* been able to get used to the mapping on a standard
PC keyboard where the big key left of the A is Caps Lock and
Control is one of those little keys along the bottom.
This is one of the puzzles I am facing day to day.[1] I confront my
colleagues with the Caps Lock key problem and they usually say, "yes you
are right I don't use it and yes it is much more convenient placed than
the control key", but when I ask them why don't they change, all I get
is a shrug.
Uwe, was your original question adequately answered? I
saw what looked like some better information than I would
have provided.
Yes I think so. I would like to solve my xmodmap config problem, but
this is a different topic. About dvorak: I might give it a try in summer.
Uwe
Footnotes:
[1] indeed I never understood the design decision to switch Caps Lock
with Control.
