Ar an dara lá is fiche de mí Bealtaine, scríobh Stephen J. Turnbull:
[...] As a matter of opinion, I disagree that changing this default
for
the sake of small-dot-pitch screens is a good idea. Instead, we should
make the Xft build the default, and leverage the work of the Xft and
freetype people on configuring things sanely. Leave the old bitmap
default for people working with legacy systems that don't have Xft.
I don’t think Xft is good enough to be made the default, specifically its
Mule support (no real logic to match non-ASCII character sets to fonts,
apart from the hard-coded support for Japanese) and its performance. X11.app
appears to do double buffering unconditionally, or something similarly
performance-enhancing--while there is visible flicker with Xft XEmacs while
using it, it can be much worse with other X11 implementations, in my
experience.

more into contact with civilization, Dobrinton was bitten by a dog which was
assumed to be mad, though it may only have been indiscriminating. (Saki)
