I simply observe that LAN connection do not cause any problems in the
sense, that I can unplug and replug the connection and (x)emacs has no
problem. While for a ppp connection this is not the case.
So it seems that the problem has to do is with the script you mention.
It is also puzzling that other applications such as mozilla do not
suffer from the plug-unplug problem.
