You have a point there. Gosh, all these years and I never noticed
this stuff! (And nobody ever complained, either.)
Anyway: as I said, these docs were written for an entirely different
program. Any similarity with the current Dired is (well, not
entirely, but pretty much) coincidental.

That's great news. Please note that the place to put this is not the
XEmacs documentation, but instead the Dired distribution, as Dired is
not part of the XEmacs core. I'll be glad to help, and I'd be happy
to put any documentation you send me into the distro.
