i am assuming the components are listed in the main DTD
so i guess parsing the DTD would need to be done to find the
components and get them as well
Yep, something like that. I guess the DTD is parsed anyway, and maybe
making the entity resolver smart enough to retrieve the modules too
would work. OTOH, libxml and friends could provide this kind of
functionality for free...
