21.5.8: sub-process hangs while qp-decode'ing
when cvs updating from beta7 to beta8, something i guess happened in
the sub-process code.
when VM tries to do some qp-decode'ing, it hangs in the
sub-process. i've tried both the qp-decode and mmencode -u -q and they
both hang.
not sure how to debug this one, since even if i set Debug on error, i
have to kill the sub-process and i get no trace.
