ediff package 1.35 broken on XEmacs 21.1.14

The latest released ediff package, version 1.35, appears to be non-functional on XEmacs 21.1.14. Attempting to run "M-x ediff" fails, after reading the second file argument, with an error to the effect that the symbol "top-gutter" is unbound as a variable. Version 1.36, out of the pre-releases collection, does not appear to have this problem, as it tests for the presence of the gutter feature before attempting to manipulate top-gutter. I'd suggest either quickly moving ediff 1.36 into the formally-released package collection, or backing 1.35 out in favor of the last previous version that works with XEmacs 21.1.14.
