Hi,
Last week I experimented by chance a little with xemacs built with gtk.
Overall I thought it was working much better than last time I tried (
admittedly a long time ago...). In fact with just a little polishing I
would be pretty happy about using gtk as the default X toolkit. The main
sticking point I noticed were:
* the buffer tabs don't seem to work (display) at all, but just
leave a gap under the toolbar
* the button widgets rendered by gtk in customize don't have any
label on them, and the choice selector buttons aren't using gtk
apparently
How much work would it be to fix these, in view of the next version of
Emacs having gtk2 support? Are there any other show-stopping problems
to be aware of?
Cheers, Jens
