I haven't heard of version problems with any of these libraries, ever. It's not a version issue, it's the location of the libraries. There's something screwy going on finding the libraries---it didn't find _any_ of them (the checks for symbols in Xaw3d, Xm, and gdbm all failed). You do have the -devel versions of the RPMs installed, right? (1) Look in config.log and see exactly what errors the linker is giving. (2) do a locate or find for libXaw3d.
