Seems to interact ok for me. What exactly are you seeing?
While you're staring at the gutter :-), as discussed the other day, I
find that anything but the "Top" location for the gutter is broken
under cygwin/NT.
If you pick "Top" or "Bottom", the redisplay appears to leave a space
in the right place for the gutter (although smaller than normal), but
no tabs. "Left" or "Right" remove the existing gutter, but don't
have
a visible effect.
Same happens when you save options and restart XEmacs, although in
this case "Bottom" produces a small space at the bottom and a tab at
the top.
Check with -vanilla. My CVS build is less than a week old.
