It's the caller's responsibility to deal with that. 
So I'm not sure I agree with the intent of this. An installed XEmacs should 
not have *any* references to the build-tree, its ludicrous that it should. 
It might help your personal setup but in general is a bad idea and contrary 
to the ethos that XEmacs has embodied (i.e. not being dependent on fixed 
paths).
