Last I checked, gnus came with an native lisp XML parser; might not be
what one wants for speed, though...

Sure, xml parse trees ought to be simple to bring back into lisp...
But perhaps not necessarily simple the other way around (thinking of
the quick/dirty map from xml to custom).
