Asynchronous gethostbyname() ?

I haven't looked at it. I assume the reason to use this is the
avoid the FAQ Linux slow startup thing. I think we could avoid
that by deferring the gethostbyname() call until it is really
needed and make sure none of the standard startup code cares
about the hostname. Then we'd shift all the "Why does XEmacs
startup so slowly?" questions to the VM (and maybe GNUS) lists.
