What kind of hosting are we looking for (except that it is good)?
Cheap web hotels doesn't seem to offer support for mercurial and
possibly other advanced stuff that we want(?) and co-location seems to
be rather expensive!?
Bitbucket says it is a free code hosting site but the FAQs text, "Is
Bitbucket free for Open-Source? Yes... sign up for the 5 users free
plan and your public repositories can have unlimited users." sounds to
me like there is some dark corner some where. Is there?
What is left then is different private initiatives but as such they
will have low bus-factor. But with distributed version control and a
tight budget that might be our best choice?
