Thanks for the heads up. This is not an urgent problem, but I've put
it on the tracker, issue824.
That reference to "XEmacs" is inaccurate, and probably should be
fixed. I think it should refer to the "XEmacs Package System" or some
such. As far as I know it has no dependency (even optional) on XEmacs
21.5, and is not distributed with XEmacs 21.5, so there is no
requirement that it be GPLv3.
I might be wrong, but I thought that now that the whole of XEmacs
is released under GPL v3, It could not be re-released under the GPL
v2 anymore.
That's also inaccurate. *XEmacs* is not released under GPLv3, a
specific set of *versions of the XEmacs codebase* has been released
under GPLv3. *Anybody* can always fork from a GPLv2 version and
release new GPLv2 versions. In fact, I'm pretty sure we'll release at
least one more XEmacs 21.4, and that will be under GPLv2.
