Back then, placing init files in ~/.xemacs wasn't a good idea
because there was a package hierarchy living at ~/.xemacs. Now that

implementing ~/.xemacs/init.elc? as a preferred alternative to

Also, I'm not so sure having .xemacs/startup.el as preferred
alternative to .emacs is such a good idea. What's the rationale for
this?
