Dear Bug Team!
I've been looking at printing from XEmacs (under Windows NT) and found
Enscript (http://people.ssh.fi/mtr/genscript/windows-95-NT/ ), which
looks like it should be usable as an external printing program - but
there's a glitch:
I tried printing multiple files with dired-do-print (I put
(setq dired-print-program-alist
'(("\\.java$" . "enscript -C ")
(".*" . "enscript ")))
into my init.el), but the printing still failed, with a message
couldn't open input file "c\:\\scratch\\test\\Test.java": Invalid
argument
no output generated
Now that's a pretty suggestive error message :-) - so I wrote a little
Perl script removing the extra backslashes before passing its
parameters to the real enscript and set that script into
dired-print-program-alist. That worked, but seems sub-optimal to me -
I think dired-do-print should know that it's running under Windows and
respect their directory separator(s), instead of quoting them.
