Well, a number of things have changed, but the subtle usability stuff hasn't because nobody (including AUCTeX developers and users) has ever bothered to follow up on the (very few) bug reports. IIRC, you haven't tried balloon-help mode since I fixed the frame decorations, is that right? I agree that it's hard, though. Both Firefox and apps distributed with Mac OS X 10.5 have a habit of leaving their tooltips on-screen the way that dogs leave turds on the sidewalk, and they do get in the way of the functionality I'm aiming at. Probably not; they're a YAGNI AFAICS. So I'm not going to do that until somebody shows that they have some utility. Eg, the :help strings in python-mode menu just give slightly more verbose versions of the information already available from the menu items.
