What do you have paren-mode set to? Mine is 'sexp.
If I put point at any closing ) or } above it highlights the whole
SEXP backwards including the matching open-paren or open-brace in
21.2-b5+.
The only nit I have is that foobar is not highlit in
font-lock-function-name-face.
