Just as a side note -- I usually read mail from my home network (even
from work), hence login through the "slow" side of my DSL line. It's
been awfully slow (painful, evil, just bad) running XEmacs in X rather
than in a terminal. Thanks to the suggestion of turning off toolbars,
it actually is useable! (XEmacs 21.4.12, debian/unstable).
At least for gnus mail reading (even with picons turned on).
