Interestingly, after I restarted my XEmacs, which had been running for quite a
while, I don't see this issue. I was able to insert both of the following
lines using "shell-command-on-region", with almost no delay.
CYGWIN_NT-5.0 WONDARK 1.3.2(0.39/3/2) 2001-05-20 23:28 i686 unknown
Sat Aug 11 12:16:17 2001
I'm still unable to update my packages, however.
