Maybe the crash Wilko is seeing isn't related but I think mine is. I
repeat myself - when I change the fonts in .Xresources so the warning
goes away the crash is gone too. That is somewhat related don't you
think?
No, I don't. I've tracked down the warning, I've experimented with
character sets for which fonts are not found, and there is no crash
there, just a failure to display. In an Xft XEmacs, those fontsets
are never even accessed. The crash (or crashes) reported in this
thread is (are) somewhere else. I decided *not* to try to intercept
the warning and suppress it because it's deep in X and suppressing it
would require some risky fiddling with stuff I didn't understand at
the time (and probably still don't).
I'll provide the backtrace on Monday when I have access to the
SLES
machine.
Yes, please do. A crash is a crash, and I don't think you're crazy
enough to be imagining it.
