ok, i would like to proceed with my suggestion below, of removing the
`kill-whole-line = always' option and defining M-k as a new kill-whole-line
function. the alternative [which would avoid disturbing the existing M-k] is to
make M-shift-k be kill-whole-line, but this is not so pretty -- kill-whole-line
is clearly a much more basic command than kill-sentence, and it parallels C-k.
