Autoconf, automake and the trunk.

The autotools tutorials online say that, to generate configure and so on, one should run: $ aclocal && autoconf && automake -a The last step of that fails for me with: automake19: no `Makefile.am’ found for any configure output How do I get around this? My automake is v. 1.9.6, my autoconf is 2.61 though I also have 2.59 available.
