Communications failure somewhere?
You wish. Search for mentions of AUCTeX on the list and you'll find
enough whining and exasperation by yours truly to convince you
otherwise.
The message is that there are not enough AUCTeX users giving the
impression that they would bother enough about a working and/or
uptodate AUCTeX that the XEmacs developers would reconsider their
policies of not allowing ready-built packages from elsewhere into
Sumo. Only things built in the XEmacs package tree are allowed, and
nobody with access to that tree at the current point of time would be
interested into making the hallowed XEmacs infrastructure reproduce
the binary package that AUCTeX builds.
XEmacs users can pick up an uptodate ready-built XEmacs package from
the AUCTeX download site, and that's the best we can do for you. More
than that would have to be done by XEmacs developers, and none is
interested. Not in allowing somebody else's finished package into
distribution, not in mimicking the build within XEmacs' own framework.
Too bad, but that's life. At least for XEmacs users.
