While you are here, a bit more background:
1) I was a minor contributor to the original Multics Emacs written by
Bernard Greenberg, with whom I am still working. I trust that you guys
are aware of its status as the first Lisp-based emacs.
2) I was a GNU Emacs user for years, until I got so frustrated trying to
find working versions of various packages (e.g. javascript-mode) for it,
coupled with its kicks-like-a-MULE semi-anti-Unicode view of
internationalization, that I went looking for an alternative ...
Which is howcome I ended up an xemacs user. Since I started out intended
to just be a user, I started out using whatever version the Cygwin
gnomes picked up and/or what you had in an installer.
